Glossary
When working with electronic vehicles and charge points there are lots of abbreviations and terms floating around. Here's a small list of the most important terms and abbreviations used with eMabler platform to get you started.
CPO, Charge Point Operator
That's you! The organization tasked with managing and operating charge points and coordinating their installation, maintenance and functioning.
EMP / EMSP, ElectroMobility (Service) Provider
The organization tasked with providing charging service to Drivers, collecting payments and being the brand drivers are aware of.
CPMS, Charge Point Management System
The “backend” for electric vehicle charging, charged with managing of chargers, drivers, sites, operators, RFID tags and recording transactions.
Sub CPO
Your customer, who may have one or more sites with chargers.
Driver
The party responsible for operating and charging electric vehicles, usually a natural person, but sometimes also a company operating multiple vehicles. May have 1 or more RFID tags.
Site
A collection of charge points and/or other sites. Used to determine access right of both management of charge points, charging access and in some cases, for invoicing.
Operator
A user of eMabler’s Charge Point Management System. That’s all of you, as well as your site managers.
Site Manager
An operator with limited access to only some sites (as opposed to an admin operator)
Transaction
One ”Charging session”. A transaction begins, when the charger decides (after consulting the CPMS or not) that charging is authorized and ends when an “end transaction” command is issued, either by the charger, backend or by unplugging the vehicle.
Charger (EVSE)
More formally “EVSE” (= Electric Vehicle Suppy Equipment). A device used for charging electric vehicles, consisting of one or more sockets.
Socket
One outlet (either a fixed cable or socket) used for charging. Multiple types (Type2, CCS, ChaDeMo) may be present in a single Charger.
